Why SPF should be your skin’s best friend

Here’s why SPF is non-negotiable:

<3 It protects your skin from harmful UV rays. UVA and UVB rays are constantly damaging your skin, even when it’s cloudy or cold outside. Over time, this exposure accelerates aging and increases your risk of skin damage.

<3 It helps prevent hyperpigmentation. Whether it’s dark spots, uneven skin tone, or acne scars, SPF helps stop those from getting worse. Without it, those blemishes will stick around longer than you'd like.

<3 It prevents premature aging. Sunscreen blocks the UV rays that break down collagen, keeping your skin firm, smooth, and youthful for longer.

<3 It’s your protection against skin cancer. UV rays cause cellular damage that can lead to skin cancer. Wearing SPF daily is one of the best ways to protect yourself from the dangers of sun exposure.

But how do you actually make SPF a daily habit?

It’s not enough to just apply sunscreen and forget about it. To make SPF a non-negotiable part of your routine, consistency is key. Here’s how you can make it part of your everyday life:

Start small. Make SPF the first thing you apply in the morning, even if you’re not planning to be outside long. Consistency means it becomes second nature.

Find a formula you love. Whether it’s a lightweight SPF serum or a rich moisturizer, find a sunscreen you can’t wait to apply. The better it feels, the more likely you are to use it every day.

Apply liberally. Don’t be shy, make sure you’re using enough sunscreen to cover all exposed areas. For your face, that means about a nickel-sized amount.
