THE 3 PRODUCTS
I keep in my fridge
By Carrie – Skincare hoarder, fridge curator, aspiring skin whisperer
I don’t cook, but I do open my fridge religiously. Not for oat milk. Not even for leftovers. But for skincare. Some people keep crystals by their bed. I keep a jelly cleanser next to my oat latte, because nothing, and I mean nothing, hits quite like cold skincare on a hot morning. At first, I started chilling my products because it felt aesthetic. But then I noticed something real: my skin was calmer. My puffy morning face was less dramatic. My redness? On mute. Turns out, cold skincare isn’t just a TikTok thing. It’s borderline therapeutic. So here are the 3 products that officially earned permanent shelf space in my beauty fridge (and yes, I made my roommate give up her butter compartment for them).

The jelly cleanser I’d marry if I could
We need to talk about cold jelly cleansers. Because if you’ve never washed your face with something chilled, squishy, and citrusy. I promise, you haven’t lived.
I keep mine in the fridge for two reasons:
- The texture turns from bouncy to cloud-like, instantly soothing my skin.
- It de-puffs my entire face faster than any jade roller ever could.
Plus, jelly cleansers are made for summer. They’re light, effective, and don’t strip your skin when it’s already dealing with sweat, SPF, and city grime. If your face feels inflamed or overworked, one cool cleanse = reset.
The jelly cream that’s basically sorbet for your skin
Imagine a moisturizer so light, it melts the second it touches your face. Now imagine it coming out of the fridge. Heaven.
Jelly creams are my summer ride-or-dies. I use them after the shower, after the beach, after accidentally falling asleep in the sun. Their job? Hydrate, soothe, and not make me feel like I’m wearing a layer of glue.
When they’re cold, they also double as a calming mask, especially when my cheeks are red or my skin’s throwing a tantrum. I’ve even used it as a makeup base on humid days and got compliments like “your skin looks chilled.” (It was.)
The mist I don’t leave the house without
I call her my panic spray. Technically it’s a hydrating mist, but spiritually? She’s a pocket-sized emotional support facial.
A few spritzes of this from the fridge and:
- My skin stops screaming
- My mood lifts
- I can pretend I’ve got my life together
Look for mists with aloe, cucumber, or panthenol, anything that hydrates and soothes without disrupting your barrier. And bonus: if you leave it in the fridge, it’ll never smell weird. Just crisp and clean, like a facial in a cloud.
Final word from your fridge girl
Keeping skincare in the fridge doesn’t just make it “cooler.”
It makes it calmer. More effective. More enjoyable. It’s the smallest upgrade with the biggest payoff , especially in summer when your skin’s tolerance is low and your glow is on the line.
So if you’re ever unsure where to start: chill it. Try it. And don’t be surprised if your skincare routine suddenly feels like self-care… with ice.
